Extending our relationships with school districts to support workforce development, our MANUFACTURING DAY outreach has expanded to fourth grade classrooms across our service area. The Library partners with WPAFB and DRMA to bring hands-on manufacturing activities to your students. We’ll introduce the history of manufacturing, talk about Dayton’s important contributions to the industry, and bring your students front and center to create a class project through a human assembly line.
FIRST CLUB is the Library’s annual campaign to make sure all first graders have their own Library Cards. Children Services Librarians visit first grade classrooms across Montgomery County to share an original picture book and send students home with card applications and incentives. It’s a lively, fun and practical introduction to the Library for children who are learning to read and explore their world.
Dayton Metro Library supports children of all ages with out-of-school learning through SUMMER CHALLENGE. Research shows that children who participate in summer reading programs improve their reading achievement, are more motivated, return to school ready to learn, and are more confident in classroom activities. There are Summer Challenge categories for children from birth through high school, and incentives for school participation.
