Staff - Branch Highlight

Huber Heights employs a diverse staff of 12 full-time, 4 part-time, and 13 aides. This location also provides volunteer opportunities for adults and teens. Librarians at Huber Heights specialize in services for adults, children and teens. The staff is happy to provide assistance with technology, suggestions on what to read, watch, or listen to next, support emerging literacy, set-up and troubleshoot electronic devices used to access online library resources, and offer help with resume building and online job hunting.

Community Connection

The Huber Heights Branch is one of the busiest branches in the Dayton Metro Library system. Partnerships with the City of Huber Heights, Huber Heights Senior Center, Huber Heights City School District, Huber Heights Early Readiness Coalition, Sinclair Community College – Huber Heights Campus, YMCA – Huber Heights, Ohio Virtual Academy, Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce, Wayne Township Huber Heights Historical Society, Five Rivers MetroParks, Garden Station, Huber Heights Farmers’ Market, The Foodbank, Toys for Tots, Aullwood’s Farm Babies, and Girl Scouts of Western Ohio help the Branch staff serve patrons of all ages with engaging, interesting, and educational programming.

Facilities

A new Branch Library to serve the Huber Heights community is the capstone of the $187 million facilities upgrade, Libraries for a Smarter Future, made possible by voter support of a bond issue in 2012. In December, 2020, the site was announced. The 27,000 square foot Branch will be part of the redevelopment of the Marion Plaza on Brandt Pike. It will be the second largest Branch in the Dayton Metro system. LWC Inc., the architects of record for the Main Library and the new West Branch, will design the $11.8 million facility. Design work is underway. Construction is expected to begin in early 2022 and last about one year.
